This IS an attack on free speech, and free association.

And it applies to all of us.

Today when asked what Rumeysa Ozturk had done wrong to deserve being kicked out of the country Rubio replied:

If the "reason why you're coming to the United States is not just because you want to write op-eds but because you want to participate in movements that are involved in ... vandalizing universities, harassing students, taking over buildings, creating a ruckus, we're not going to give you a visa,"

That’s as plain a statement as we can expect. Rubio thinks that writing op-eds is criminal, participating in movements they do not like is simply, flatly, illegal or at least against the security of the united states.

This is an attempt to ban political expression and association, no court, no due process, just the arbitrary decision of the president and his lackey at the State Department.

No matter what else happens in court, no matter what they claim, the fact is that they are attacking basic freedom of expression, not just for Rumeysa but for everyone. If two months in, they can expel her for her opinions without trial, they can, and will, go further.
