Bingo! As to what to do about the appalling failures of the Democratic heirarchy, you can lead, follow or get out of the way. I decided to lead! I'm loading up my Substack with everything I can think of (which is a lot) to help anyone who wants to run for state or local office or be a better informed voter/more effective advocate at that level. We can do a far better job in our own. Let's do it! https://open.substack.com/pub/sharonlawrence/p/elections-breaking-down-the-red-wall-a0b?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=a5esd.

It seems that there are two intertwined problems that have left democratic adherents in the woods without a flashlight or compass: the existing financing structure and control of a Winning National Strategy which has deep predictable resonance with state-by-state support. I would start with financial support alternatives for deep cultural realignment.

I'm going to be doing some posts about how Dems can do more with less, by consolidating efforts. Stay tuned for that.

Candidates are getting advice from consultants who get a 30 percent commission on ad placements.

Yes. Please do those posts. The whole financing model the consultants use seems to make the process less like a determined effort to win and more like predation. The DCCC and others prioritize candidates who can raise a lot, because their consultants demand a lot, and push away people who want to just win because they won’t feed the consultants. As a consequence they are selecting people not based on local appeal or a chance at victory but for marketability.

Be on the lookout for a post in a day or two on this point.

To me the “ad placement” problem looks like a candidate for a little “move fast and threaten to break things.”

This was good! The closed loop of power is where we are sitting.

Thank you. I feel like at this point the Democratic party is an institutional drag on action. Or perhaps monopolists at the well, rather than fighters for justice and this closed loop is exactly why.

I’ve been referring to the constant fear based pandering request for money as proof that we have an electioneering industrial complex to rival the military one. The last straw for me was Schumer’s urgent texts for donations after the election for his “no king’s act.” Really?

Yes. “Electioneering Industrial Complex” is a very apt description. We have people who collect rents on our attempt to make life better.

Excellent analysis. We’re desperate for a party that is truly in oppostion to the GOPs present incarnation. Whether that is a completely overhauled Democratic Party, or a brand new third party with teeth and legs, we need something that represents American Worker and their concerns. Not Liberal Democratic donors.
